Organized Themes has released a new WordPress theme called Epic. Epic is “designed from the ground up with the needs of churches in mind.” Epic is responsive theme that includes some great features, including:

Modernize – A Responsive WordPress Theme
Modernize is a responsive WordPress theme available at ThemeForest. Responsive themes are designed to respond to different browser sizes, specifically to accommodate tablets and phones. This negates the need for specific plugins or separate mobile websites. Modernize comes with a great Page Builder feature that can help you do even more within each WordPress page. It also comes with over 350 fonts as well as a font uploader.
On Wednesday I’ll feature a church that used Modernize for their WordPress website.
A Great WordPress Theme for Churches – inFocus
Later this week I’ll feature a church website that has an excellent look and feel, all while running on WordPress (obviously). For now though, I’ll share the theme they used. It’s the inFocus theme available at ThemeForest.net. The theme is just $35 for the regular license and comes packed with features and options including:
- Over 30 skins.
- Over 100 custom shortcodes including jquery, columns, fancy boxes and more.
- Contact form builder.
- Layered PSDs.

Life Premium WordPress Theme
Life is a Premium WordPress Theme available from ThemeForest.net that can work well for a church or ministry website. This is not the same as the Life Site Template mentioned on last week’s post. The advantages it has for a church website include the large slider on the home page and up to 6 boxes to highlight specific events, ministries or resources. The home page has 3 different designs that can be used if desired. The them also comes with detailed documentation to help when installing and customizing the theme. Like many of the themes available at ThemeForest, it can be had for just $35.
Resolution Theme from THB
Resolution is a WordPress theme from THB Themes that works well for churches. It’s clean, simple, has unlimited sidebars and colors, uses Google fonts, custom widgets, custom post types and 2 jQuery slideshows. It’s available for $35 at ThemeForest.net. On Thursday we’ll feature a church that used this theme for their site for an excellent look and feel.
Simplicity Theme from WooThemes Works Well for Churches
Simplicity is a theme from WooThemes that can work well for churches. Today (12/20/2011) it’s 30% off and comes with an additional free bonus theme. The featured slider, custom post types, custom fonts, widgets and alternative styles are all helpful for church websites. If your ministry or church has a store you could also use the Simplicity WooCommerce Child Theme as well. On Thursday we’ll feature a church that used Simplicity for their website.
Studeo – A WordPress Theme from PremiumPixels
Studeo is a WordPress theme by PremiumPixels that is available through ThemeForest. It is designed to appeal to creative agencies and makes heavy use of images throughout the design. It comes with 4 custom widgets, a filterable portfolio and an easy color picker. A church not to far from where I call home used this theme in redesigning their church website. Thursday I’ll feature that site and you can see it used in a church context.
Compra eCommerce WordPress Theme from Mint Themes
If you have a small business, a ministry where you sell products, or any type of need for an eCommerce website Mint Themes may have the right theme for you. That theme is Compra. This theme will allow you to house your own online store. Compra uses one of the best WordPress eCommerce plugins – Cart66. It even integrates with my favorite email newsletter app, MailChimp. Built into the theme is the ability to have product pages, photo albums, testimonials, news/blog and checkout. Like all Mint Themes, you also get well organized Photoshop files.
Born WordPress Theme for Churches
ThemeForest has a brand new theme for churches called Born. Born uses custom post types so you can use posts for audio, video, galleries, events and news all while showing them in the home page slider. There are a number of options to allow you to quickly change things on the site, such as the background, colors, font, as well as whether or not to display certain features. Born is just $40.
